Environmental Alchemist: Food & Fabric
Rhonda M. Fazio is the founder and designer of Dyer Maker Studio, a traveling Maker Space specializing in natural colors and sustainable textile design.
Rhonda teaches "Dyeing to Wear It", weaving and cooking classes and is the Creative Curator of Interwoven. She is also a caterer for events, known as La Rhonda. Her work has also been exhibited in solo and group exhibitions in galleries, museums, and historical societies in Massachusetts.
Rhonda M. Fazio, is a graduate of art history from the University of Massachusetts at Dartmouth (UMD). Prior to UMD, she studied Professional Craft: Fiber and Clay at Haywood Community College near Asheville, North Carolina — an area rich with the influence and philosophy of Black Mountain College.
Artist’s Statement
"My work with food and fabric reflect the essential connection between people from all over the world in relation to the journey of the human narrative. In America, it is a story we all share, and we are all Interwoven because of it."
“My years of research as an artisan assimilate the textile design methods of ancient and indigenous cultures with the agrarian culture of Western Civilization. A portion of my philosophy is to incorporate the early American cottage industry as a redevelopment of an economic process in the 21st century.
The approach to my work relies more on the human process of design rather than the mechanized version of it. I have been working as an artist for over 20 years; however, my influences span millennia drawing on the earliest sustainable materials.
My work is largely produced without the use of fossil fuel. I am currently a regional artist in the South Coast of Massachusetts. I teach sustainable textile design workshops and facilitate my natural dye and historical textile research.

Kim Smith is a multimedia artist and performer who uses creativity to connect people to climate change solutions with her startup, the Sustainabubble Project. When she is not making music as Miss Myth, Kim creates upcycled vertical aquaponic gardens ("Sustainabubbles") and hosts workshops for those curious to grow more of their own survival needs without spending money (or by spending very little).

Kim is a painter, printmaker, and an overall creative with a professional career that spans a range of disciplines and industries over the last 20 years, covering everything from realism to abstract with the same level of skill and dedication.
Michael
Music, Performance & Carpentry
Michael brings a lifelong love of woodworking to Interwoven, building and repairing furniture and fixtures around the space. When he's not building, he's often playing music with the community that gathers here.
